May 31, 2018: The Center of Excellence on Sustainable Agricultural Intensification and Nutrition (CE SAIN Cambodia) of Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) facilitated lectures related with Integrated Pest Management: " Agricultural Research at USAID " Presented by Dr. Jonh E. Bowman, a Program Area Leader & Sr. Agriculture Advisor of USAID's Bureau for Food Security, Washington DC, USA, "Overview of the IPM Innovation Lab Activities " Presented by Dr. Muni Muniappan the Director of IMP Innovation Lab, Virginia Tech.
" Ecological-based, Participatory IPM for Rice in Cambodia " Presented by Dr. Buyung Hadi, an Entomologist of International Rice Research Institute, Cambodia.
Dr. John Bowman is a Program Area Leader and Senior Agriculture Adviser at the United States Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Food Security based in Washington DC. Dr. Bowman manages global projects for USAID’s Office of Agricultural Research and Policy in the areas of horticulture, integrated pest management, food safety, and post-harvest loss.

Dr. Muni Muniappan is an entomologist who has specialized in biological control and integrated pest management research in the tropics for more than 40 years. His primary work experience has focused on the biological control of invasive weeds and insect pests of tropical fruit and vegetable crops.

Dr. Buyung Hadi is IRRI entomologist that also serves as the institute’s country representative for Cambodia. His research revolves around development and dissemination of ecologically-based IPM for rice in Southeast Asia.

The lecture shared about the USAID’s philosophy on the role of research in food security overview of USAID’s current research portfolio, overview of the IPM Innovation Lab activities lessons learned, dissemination, and policy work.
